Cerita Hidup :
COVID-19 has claimed another life. And this time it was my dad's. He passed away in Indonesia, at close to midnight Indonesia time on Wednesday 21 July 2021, after spending 2 weeks in ICU.
He has dedicated all his life to medicine and psychiatry. In his later career life, he has helped many of his patients deal with drug and alcohol addiction, and threw himself into educating future health professionals in this field. He was still working even though he was supposed to retire, simply because medicine was his love and passion.
He was a hard working man and has provided my brother and I with safe home, love and attention, and good educations. We never want of anything, and now both my brother and I had great careers, strong values, awesome partners, all of which would not be possible without everything my dad taught and passed on to us.
He has had his two vaccine, and he has always been healthy. However, with 3% of population vaccinated and COVID claiming 1000 deaths every day in Indonesia, transmission is almost unavoidable; losing a friend, family member, loved ones is sadly not uncommon. So, for those of you who are lucky enough to still have your dear ones, please get vaccinated, and spread the words. There are too many of us who has experienced how nasty this disease is first hand. But there are still too many people who don't believe in its existence and vaccination. Our loss do not mean nothing.
I still cannot believe my dad is not around anymore. My dad fought extremely hard until the end. But now he does not suffer anymore. His life legacy will live on in all of us. He will be in our hearts forever. Rest in peace dad. We love you and will miss you dearly. I am sure you are watching over us, sitting by God side.
Until we meet again.
